About Course

Creep deformation of materials

This course is designed to give participants an overview of time-dependent plastic deformation of materials (creep), particularly at high homogeneous temperatures. The audience will learn about creep’s rate-controlling mechanisms and how to use them to anticipate a structure’s remaining usable life. Other parametric approaches will be discussed, including the Larson-Miller parameter, the Theta-projection notion, and the Kachanov-Rabotnov model. The course will conclude by emphasizing the need of taking creep into account while developing technologically relevant materials like titanium alloys, zirconium alloys, and advanced materials like nanocrystalline materials.
